With Zapier, you can connect Blujay to your other tools without code. For example, text a new lead the moment they fill out a form, add a tag when a contact replies, or start a Blujay automation from your CRM. Connecting Zapier needs a Blujay workspace owner or admin.

Connect Zapier

1

Open the Blujay app in Zapier

In the Blujay web app, click Settings in the left sidebar, then the Integrations tab. On the Zapier card, click Open in Zapier.
2

Accept the invite

Zapier opens in a new tab. Sign in to Zapier if you need to, and accept the invite to use the Blujay app.
3

Connect your Blujay account

In Zapier, create a Zap with a Blujay trigger or action. When Zapier asks you to connect Blujay, sign in to Blujay if prompted.
4

Approve the connection

Blujay shows Approve Zapier connection with the permissions Zapier is asking for. Click Approve.
The connection stays signed in, so your Zaps keep running without you reconnecting.

Triggers

Triggers start a Zap when something happens in Blujay.

Actions

Actions are what a Zap does in Blujay. To send a message to someone who isn’t in Blujay yet, use Import Contact first, then Send Outbound Message with the contact it returns.

Sending messages from Zapier

  • Pick a sending number. Under Sender Phone Number, choose which Blujay number sends the text. Only numbers that can send are listed.
  • Map a Unique Event ID. Send Outbound Message needs a Unique Event ID. Map an ID that’s unique to the record that started the Zap, such as the form submission or lead ID. If Zapier retries a step, Blujay uses this ID to make sure the text is only sent once.
  • Your usual limits still apply. Texts from Zapier count toward each number’s daily limit for new contacts, the same as texts you send yourself. Before a contact has replied to the number, Zapier texts can’t include a link, a photo or file, or more than 300 characters, and Zapier can never send a 7th text in a row to someone who hasn’t responded. A Zap that tries gets an error naming the rule and nothing is sent.
  • Messages show as automated. Texts sent by Zapier appear in the conversation with an Automation avatar, so your team can tell them apart.
Before you automate texting, read Your first text to a new lead and Following up. The same rules keep your number in good standing when texts are automated.

Stop or disconnect Zapier

To stop a Zap, turn it off in Zapier. To disconnect Blujay from Zapier completely, remove the Blujay connection from your connected accounts in Zapier.

Common problems

Only a Blujay workspace owner or admin can approve the Zapier connection. Ask one of them to connect Zapier.
Fill in Unique Event ID in the Send Outbound Message step. Map an ID from your trigger, such as the form submission or record ID.
The contact has no phone number. Add one with Import Contact first.
The Blujay number in your Zap can’t send right now, or is no longer active. Choose a different number under Sender Phone Number.
This number has started as many new conversations as it can today. The limit resets the next day, and you can still text people you’ve already talked to.
Your Zaps are sending requests too quickly. Zapier retries automatically. If it keeps happening, spread your Zaps out over time.
