# Getting started

> What Blujay is, a quick tour of the app, and how to send your first message.

Blujay lets your team text and call contacts from your business's own numbers, with iMessage, RCS and SMS. Everyone on your team works from one shared inbox, on the web, on the iPhone app, and alongside your CRM in Chrome.

## Your Blujay numbers

Your workspace's Blujay numbers belong to the whole team. Everyone sees every conversation and can send from any of your numbers. Blujay sends each message as iMessage when the contact can receive it, and as a text message when they can't.

## A quick tour of the web app

Sign in at [app.blujay.io](https://app.blujay.io). The left sidebar takes you to each part of Blujay.

| In the sidebar | What it's for |
| - | - |
| **Messages** | Your team's inbox: every conversation, with search and filters |
| **Contacts** | Your contacts and their details |
| **Automations** | Send messages and follow-ups automatically |
| **Widgets** | Add a chat widget to your website, or share a direct link people can text you from |
| **Settings** | Team, integrations and workspace settings (owners and admins only) |

At the bottom of the sidebar:

* **Get the apps** (phone icon): install the iPhone app and the Chrome extension.
* **Your profile picture:** **Notification Settings**, **Call Settings**, **Your Card**, **Appearance** and **Sign out**.

## Find your way around the inbox

* **Inbox**, **Unreplied** and **Closed** at the top of the list sort your conversations. **Unreplied** shows conversations where the contact sent the last message.
* When your team has more than one person, filter by **Assigned to me**, **Unassigned** or a teammate.
* Hover over a conversation and click the pin icon to keep it at the top.
* When a conversation is done, choose **Mark as Closed** from its menu. It moves to **Closed**. To bring it back, open it and choose **Reopen Conversation**.

## Send your first message

**1. Start a new message**

In **Messages**, click **+** (**New message**).

**2. Choose who it's to**

Next to **To:**, type a name or phone number and choose the contact.

**3. Choose your number**

If your workspace has more than one Blujay number, choose which one to send from under **From:**.

**4. Write and send**

The message box shows whether it will go out as **iMessage** or a **Text Message**. Write your message and send it.

Before you text someone new, read [Your first text to a new lead](https://support.blujay.io/messaging/first-text.md). A good first text gets more replies and keeps your number in good standing.

## On your iPhone

The Blujay iPhone app has three tabs: **Messages** for your inbox, **Contacts**, and **Settings** for notifications and signing out. Sign in with the same email and password you use on the web.
